Job Description:
We are seeking a Server Engineer to work within our Infrastructure team as part of the Windows Services Support Team function. Reporting to the Windows Services Support Team Lead, this role is primarily responsible for operational support of the Windows Server environment for our business unit. The role will entail resolution of day-to-day issues and service requests, including resolving incidents and expanding on existing solutions or services.

This role will also involve monitoring system changes and performance and being involved with supporting system maintenance. The successful candidate will also be actively involved in reviewing and improving support documentation and automation of day to day support activities.

Job Requirements:

  •     The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
  •     Solid Windows experience (Windows 2008 / 2012)
  •     Building Windows Servers (64bit & 32bit)
  •     Proven ability to troubleshoot operating system related issues
  •     Strong change management approach that maximises system uptime
  •     Experience in Windows based automation techniques (Perl, VBScript, PowerShell)
  •     Structured and methodical approach to problem solving
  •     Self motivated and able to work autonomously as well as being a strong team player
  •     Ability to work in a high pressure environment with tight SLA's
  •     Strong Customer Service skills
  •     Solid process improvement and documentation skills
  •     Ability to liaise with different teams of varying technical strengths and knowledge
  •     Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties:
  •     Resolution of assigned Incidents/Requests on-site or remotely at other Computershare offices in Melbourne
  •     Pro-actively identify, analyse and resolve problems to optimise systems and minimise risk, document work-arounds and implement changes as and when required
  •     Understand and adhere to Incident and Change Management policies and procedures for implementing change
  •     Compile Post Incident Review reports with comprehensive detail and in the time frame required
  •     Ensure high levels of system availability, capacity, reliability, data integrity, security and performance are maintained
  •     Input into capacity management plans and recommendations
  •     Proactively perform required system monitoring, alert/event response, maintenance and patching activities
  •     Ensure Server Infrastructure standards are maintained
  •     Timely and accurate documentation of work performed, to the standard required and using the systems, processes and/or methods specified
  •     Customer centric prompt and effective action when dealing with client requests, questions and concerns
  •     When required, perform activities after hours and participate in the on-call roster
  •     Participate in Project activities, as required
  •     Proactively support and participate in service improvement initiatives

The Following are advantageous:

  •     Virtual systems administration (VMware preferred, Microsoft HyperV considered)
  •     Messaging administration (Microsoft exchange 2007 / 2010)
  •     Exposure to monitoring systems and fine tuning
  •     Windows clustering
  •     Citrix
  •     Understanding of automated deployments and upgrades
  •     Experience in equipping an application to be DR ready (e.g. clustering / replication, etc)
  •     Experience with HP Wintel hardware and Cisco UCS
  •     ITIL
  •     SCCM and SCOM skills will be highly regarded
  •     SharePoint skills will be highly regarded
