Suncorp Bank is now seeking an Executive Manager, Credit Risk Oversight & Assurance to join our Banking Risk team. This pivotal leadership role will see you provide second line independent oversight and assurance in relation to credit quality and Credit Risk Management.

The Bank Chief Risk Office (CFO) is a key governance division responsible for all aspects of risk management and regulatory governance within the Suncorp Group.  The Banking Credit unit is responsible for Credit from an end to end perspective. It provides specialist support and advice to business units in obtaining approval for credit submissions that sit outside their delegated credit authority. The unit is responsible for maintaining and improving Credit Risk systems, and risk gradings.

The role will report into the Chief Risk Officer Banking and will oversee Credit Review, Credit Policy and Credit Risk Projects.  You will be responsible for monitoring changes in the economic, business and regulatory environments, emerging trends and other factors which may impact on credit portfolio risks including risk concentrations.

Job Requirements:
To ensure success in this role you will have strong communication skills and the ability to network effectively, strengthen relationships and build rapport with key stakeholders.  You with have exceptional analytical skills along with a detailed understanding of lending parameters including and ability to assess fundamental inherent risk in a wide range of relevant industries.

Essential attributes include:

  •     Tertiary qualifications in Finance or related discipline is highly desirable
  •     Strong understanding of business, business management principles and change management strategies
  •     An understanding of prudential standards which apply to the management of credit risk within the Bank
  •     Leadership experience in either a business line role or a credit area, preferably across both Retail and Business Lending
  •     Completion of Omega financial analysis training/Agri Omega (or equivalent).

Job Duties:
  •     Providing assurance to the Board and Board Risk Committee in regard to credit quality and credit risk management practices
  •     Improving credit culture and compliance along with meeting prudential lending standards, minimising risk to the Bank and meeting the requirements set down by the Credit Standards and Procedures
  •     Design, implementation and maintenance of the bank credit risk policy framework
  •     Overseeing strategic credit projects and determining the quality of Business Unit management and what risks face the Bank.
