Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer Banking, the role of Chief Credit Officer presents an outstanding career opportunity for a senior finance professional to play a significant role in the direction of the Suncorp Bank's Credit Risk division.
The Bank Chief Risk Office (CRO) is a key governance division responsible for all aspects of risk management and regulatory governance within the Suncorp Bank. The Banking Credit division is responsible for credit from an end to end perspective. It provides specialist support and advice to business units in obtaining approval for credit submissions that sit outside their delegated credit authority. The unit is responsible for maintaining and improving Credit Risk systems and risk gradings.
In the most senior credit role in the bank, you will be responsible for driving the link between bank strategy, business unit strategy and risk appetite as well as ensuring that this is well communicated within Banking Credit, Banking Risk and the Bank more broadly. You will also lead the division though business critical change regarding risk appetite and stakeholder engagement and management.
Job Requirements:
Absolutely critical to your success will be your exceptional relationship management skills and demonstrated strong business acumen, with the gravitas and influence to engage and guide senior management and their respective teams.
Essential attributes include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or related discipline highly regarded
- Extensive leadership experience in either a credit area or a business line role (Banking ideal) with proven ability to engage and develop high performing teams
- Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of business management principles and change management strategies
- An understanding of prudential standards which apply to the management of credit risk within the Bank and the exercise of a substantial Delegated Credit Authority
- Completion of Omega financial analysis training/Agri Omega (or equivalent)
Job Duties:
- Lead the Credit Risk division in the provision of credit decisions to all banking areas within acceptable risk parameters in line with the Group risk appetite
- Influence and lead the Credit Risk division to ensure that collaboration and team work with key internal stakeholders eg Credit Operations, Frontline Sales & Service, is a primary focus and customer experience is high
- Lead the Retail Recovery and Banking Recovery division, and as such have responsibility for the management of recovery functions for the total banking portfolio, including hardship accounts and impaired assets
- Ensuring that business written is within the agreed risk appetite tolerances of the bank including relevant risk and geographic concentration limits
