Job Description:
We are seeking a UNIX Infrastructure Service Architect to join our Service Design and Engineering team. An Infrastructure Service Architect is responsible for translating the business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by creating, communicating and improving the key principles, standards and models that describe the enterprise future state.

The Macquarie UNIX environment consists of 2400 UNIX servers and has a mix of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris and Veritas Cluster Server.

Job Requirements:
The key attributes we are looking for in a candidate is a person who has a deep technical background in UNIX/Linux and a passion for delivering quality results. This person will have both an outward and an inward focus, assessing new technologies and integrating them into future plans. This person will create detailed designs and mentor the Unix engineering team to develop designs which reflect both their deep technical knowledge and their passion for quality.

The following attributes are considered highly regarded:

•    7-10+ years experience in senior Unix technical design and architecture roles, including experience with Solaris, RedHat Linux and VMware platforms
•    5+ years L3 experience in a global financial services organization managing Unix fleets in excess of 1,000 nodes
•    5+ years experience with enterprise technologies such as Veritas Cluster Server, Sun Directory Server, Oracle RAC databases, Java enterprise application servers and Java message queue systems
•    Demonstrated experience in establishing and evolving technology roadmaps, architecture patterns and standards
•    Strong analytical and conceptualization skills (e.g. the ability to "join the dots", and communicate this at multiple levels)
•    Demonstrates a sound understanding of vendor technologies and roadmaps, and remains current with key IT industry themes and emerging trends
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in tailoring content to business, technology and executive audiences
•    Ability to estimate roadmap projects and update / maintain roadmap financial forecasts
•    Demonstrates successful delivery of desired business outcomes through execution of technology roadmaps
•    Exhibits technical credibility with both technology and business stakeholders

The following attributes would be highly desirable:

•    Experience in Investment Banking
•    UNIX qualified
•    Tertiary qualified
•    TOGAF certified
•    ITIL certified
•    Experience across a variety of technologies and industries
•    Experience in deploying cloud-based technologies


Job Duties:
This role has overall responsibility for the architecture of a service on a global basis.  In conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture team, Service Owner and Macquarie's Businesses, this role will:

•    Align Service roadmaps to both business needs and Enterprise direction;
•    Actively engage stakeholders in the development of Service roadmaps;
•    Create guiding principles and standards to underpin the service designs;
•    Develop reusable architecture patterns and blueprints to simplify delivery;
•    Engage the broader architecture community in service evolution.

Development and maintenance of IT strategy and architecture for the deployment and subsequent operation and improvement of IT services and solutions within the UNIX services with key outcomes or activities that include full accountability for:

•    End-to-end service architecture for those services and products in scope for the UNIX service
•    Development of the service roadmap for creating and improving services
•    Understanding business requirements and  their translation into business solutions
•    Service Design principles
