The Exploration Division of Fortescue Metals Group is seeking an experienced and talented Geophysicist with a high level of geological skills and knowledge. Fortescue has many active projects and the successful applicant will need to be flexible, able to handle several projects simultaneously and carry a significant work load.  Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the position is Perth based though you will be required to embark on frequent field visits to successfully carry out your role.

Your key accountabilities will include:
• Supporting Fortescue's Exploration teams working on projects exploring mainly for iron ore though with some significant exposure to exploration for other metals.
• Advance FMG's understanding of Iron Ore and non Iron Ore projects and the potential of its Pilbara tenements as far as practical using all available information and data.
• Responsibilities will vary and will include planning, acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical data.
• To successfully communicate at all levels, confidently conveying to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentoring and training of field staff.
• Frequently completing field visits in remote locations.

Qualifications and skills required:
• Bachelor, Master's degree or PhD in geophysics or a related geoscience discipline.
• It is expected that the successful applicant will have a minimum of 8- 10 years' experience working with a variety of mineral commodities and geological environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• A high level of written and spoken communication skills.
• Experience working in the field in remote environments.
