Job Description:
The Community Relations Advisor role is a member of the Gladstone community relations team comprising Rio Tinto Alcan Yarwun and the Rio Tinto Alcan Community Fund - www.hereforgladstone.com.au. The role reports to the Specialist - Community Relations & Media.
An area of focus for the team in 2014 is to take a proactive approach, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and transparency when building relationships with the community. As a member of a broader community relations team across all Rio Tinto Alcan assets in Gladstone this role will have significant exposure to many challenges and opportunities.
We are seeking a highly motivated and capable person who has a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness. This role will manage complex relationships and be the first port of call for complaints. Establishing relationships and quickly building rapport with people from a diverse range of backgrounds will be critical to success.

Job Requirements:
• Tertiary qualifications in Community Relations, Business or a related degree
• This role requires an experienced and socially competent professional who understands the value of both electronic and direct engagement
• Drive and resilience to implement change
• Excellent written and interpersonal skills

Job duties;
• Manage complaints and enquiries
• Community and stakeholder engagement (including event management)
• Sponsorship and donations (for Rio Tinto Alcan Gladstone operations)
• Internal and external communications (emphasis on digital platforms)
