What we do
Orica is the world's largest provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems, delivering innovative solutions to the open cut and underground mining, quarry, civil construction, tunnelling and oil and gas markets.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Site Supervisor on our German Creek Mine Site, the yardman will provide bulk product delivery support to the blast crew on site as well as assisting the shotfirer and blast crew in on-bench operations when required.
Duties will include operating the MC vehicle on site and transporting containers from the Orica reload facilities to the delivery area, which is a 15km round trip. Ability to manoeuvre the MC vehicle in reasonably confined areas is essential to the position. Using a forklift, you will also be responsible for unloading the incoming deliveries of blast product containers and organising the storage area using a 'first in first out' system.
This position will be on an even time 7/7 roster and camp accommodation will be provided for the duration of your roster.
Experience and Qualifications required
• At least 5 years experience driving Multi-Combination vehicles (MC License essential)
• Up to date high risk forklift operations license is essential
• Generic Standard 11 open cut coal induction
• SSAN (Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate) clearance desirable
• 2 years bulk explosives/dangerous goods experience
• Excellent organisational skills are a must
